Restoring Trust Back into Your Marriage

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs: 3:5-6 NIV

When you first meet a person in order to trust that person, you will have to get to know them. In a Christian relationship, couples should first start out as friends and then that friendship should develop into a marriage relationship. The levels of communication you build during the friendship relationship must be maintained throughout the marriage. Most of all the level each of you have developed in your relationship with God will determine how strong your marriage will become.

However, when the trust is broken in a marriage, how do you regain that trust back? The Christian marriage is to be just like our relationship with God. Once you sin that relationship or trust is broken until you repent; 1 John 1:9 NKJV says, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness". Just like repentance and forgiveness are the keys to restoring your relationship with God it is also the key to rebuilding the trust back into your relationship with your spouse. When you pray and read God's word you gain knowledge of His love for you and understanding on how much He wants to be with you. In a marriage you gain knowledge by communicating with your spouse. The deepness of your communication and how much transparency there is will help you begin to understand how much you love each other. Many people want their spouse to forgive them after they have broken the trust in the relationship, and they want their spouse to immediately treat them as if they've done nothing wrong. However, you will have to work on restoring that trust until the marriage is stronger than it was before. You both must choose to grow in the love of God; God's love never fails!!! Be Blessed!
